Riyadh Region Municipality is rolling out six community sports tournaments for residents across 11 locations in central Riyadh throughout September 2026, in an initiative designed to bring neighborhoods together and encourage healthier, more active lifestyles for all age groups.
The lineup covers a wide mix of sports and games to appeal to families and residents of different interests. It includes a neighborhood football league for residential teams and a separate volunteer football league for volunteer teams, alongside basketball and volleyball tournaments. Popular traditional card and table games are also part of the program, with dedicated Baloot and Dominoes tournaments.
The tournaments are spread across 11 sites within the central sector of Riyadh, with competitions running throughout the month. Alongside the sporting fixtures, organizers are hosting more than 15 entertainment, awareness, and health events during the same period, giving residents a broader community program to enjoy.
Why it matters
The initiative aims to promote physical activity and community interaction across all age groups while enhancing quality of life and widening community participation in central Riyadh. More than 40 entities from the government, private, and non-profit sectors, along with volunteer teams, are taking part in organizing and supporting the tournaments and side activities.
The events are presented as community tournaments, and no participant registration fees or ticket prices have been announced, pointing to free public participation and attendance. Detailed daily match schedules, start times, and specific venue names have not yet been published. Residents interested in taking part or attending can follow official announcements through the Riyadh Municipality official portal and its news section for the latest details.
