Riyadh Sports Boulevard Opens First Phase

Riyadh's ambitious Sports Boulevard is moving forward, with the first phase of the project officially opened to the public on 10 August 2026. The 135 km linear sports and entertainment corridor is one of the capital's flagship developments under Saudi Vision 2030, designed to promote urban sports, recreation, and healthier lifestyles.

When fully completed, the corridor will offer more than 50 sports facilities, around 220 km of cycling routes, 135 km of walking and running trails, and nearly 100 km of equestrian trails. It will also include roughly 4.4 million m² of green and open space, giving residents wide access to outdoor activity across the city.

The project is organised into eight districts, spanning ecological, entertainment, arts, and "sand sports" areas. Planned venues include amphitheatres, performance and art exhibition spaces, and designated retail and real estate investment zones. Development is overseen by the Sports Boulevard Foundation, an official government entity with a dedicated contact centre (920035153), while the Sports Boulevard Real Estate Development and Investment Company (SBDC) structures the corridor's real estate and hospitality projects.

Investment and progress

As of the 2026 pre-budget statement, the project has reached a completion rate of around 44.2%, with phased openings scheduled between 2024 and 2028 and overall completion targeted around 2027 to 2029 depending on sub-projects.

Several major investment funds are backing the corridor. A SAR 700 million fund, established with Rikaz Properties, will finance a luxury five-star hotel in Urban Wadi. A SAR 500 million fund is dedicated to developing the landmark "Badie Tower," one of only six towers permitted along the corridor. A separate SAR 3.6 billion mixed-use towers project will deliver around 800 residential apartments, a 250-room five-star hotel, 52,000 m² of office space, and 6,000 m² of retail space, with completion planned for the fourth quarter of 2029.

For residents in Riyadh, the Sports Boulevard represents a growing hub for outdoor activity, entertainment, and investment, with operational and access details available through the project's official online portal.
