SAR 3 Billion Allocated to Finance Strategic Food Imports

The Agricultural Development Fund has allocated SAR 3 billion to finance the import of targeted strategic commodities, in a move aimed at strengthening the Kingdom's strategic reserves and supporting the stability of food supply chains. The financing will be delivered through direct lending as well as partnerships with banks.

The initiative is being coordinated with the National Development Fund and the General Food Security Authority. Disbursements to beneficiaries are reported to continue through the end of 2026, giving importers an extended window to benefit from the program.

the targeted products include rice, yellow corn, soybeans, and other agricultural commodities that are essential to local food supply. By channeling financing toward these imports, the program seeks to help maintain adequate reserves and smooth the flow of key goods into the market.

Why it matters

Stable supply of staple foods is a priority for households across the Kingdom. Programs that support strategic reserves can help cushion markets against supply disruptions and contribute to steadier availability of essential products for residents and expats alike.

At this stage, no publicly verified details were identified regarding beneficiary fees, interest or profit rates, minimum or maximum financing amounts, repayment periods, application steps, or specific digital application channels. Businesses interested in the program should confirm eligibility and application requirements through the Agricultural Development Fund's current official service channels.
