On 12 October 2026, SALIC announced the transfer of full ownership of National Grain Company to National Grain Supply Company (SABIL), in a corporate restructuring designed to strengthen the Kingdom's grain and feed supply chains.
Ahead of the transfer, SALIC had acquired the remaining 50% stake in National Grain Company, bringing the business under complete ownership before handing it over to SABIL. National Grain Company remains an independent legal entity and is now wholly owned by SABIL.
What the restructuring covers
The arrangement brings together a wide range of operations under one umbrella, including grain sourcing, strategic wheat reserves, silos, storage, handling, distribution, feed inputs, and local-market activities. The goal is a more integrated and resilient supply chain that supports national food-security objectives.
Relevant government oversight for this sector falls under the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the General Food Security Authority.
This is a corporate ownership restructuring, not a public service for individuals or businesses. It does not require any application, fee, or procedure through government platforms, and no transfer fee, purchase price, or customer charge was announced. For residents and businesses, there is no action to take.
Why it matters: grain and feed are central to Saudi food security. Consolidating these operations under SABIL is intended to improve coordination of strategic reserves and distribution, helping ensure steady supply across the local market.
