Saudi AI Business Registrations Rise 31%

Saudi Arabia's artificial intelligence sector continues to expand rapidly, with AI-related commercial registrations reaching 24,552 — a reported 31% increase recorded in September 2026. The figures point to growing appetite among entrepreneurs and companies to formalize AI-focused businesses across the Kingdom.

The growth builds on earlier momentum. A separate Ministry of Commerce report recorded 19,042 AI-technology commercial registrations in 2025, with 34% growth. The two sets of numbers reflect different reporting periods or definitions, but both signal a clear upward trend.

How to register an AI business

New commercial registrations are issued through the Ministry of Commerce Saudi Business Center at business.sa. Applicants authenticate through Nafath, select the legal form, choose AI-related activities, reserve a trade name if required, enter establishment details, submit documents, pay electronically, and download the electronic commercial registration.

Statutory registration fees vary by legal form: SAR 500 for a sole proprietorship, SAR 1,000 for a general or limited partnership, SAR 1,200 for a limited liability company, and SAR 1,600 for a joint-stock, simplified joint-stock, or foreign-company branch. Trade-name reservation is SAR 200 for an Arabic name and SAR 500 for an English name. Confirming commercial-registration data uses the same legal-form fees of SAR 500, SAR 1,000, SAR 1,200, or SAR 1,600.

The commercial registration is subject to annual confirmation rather than a fixed multi-year validity period. For the community, the rising numbers reflect wider opportunities in a fast-growing sector — and a fully digital path to setting up a business.
