Saudi Arabia will be represented by 144 athletes competing across 19 national teams at the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from 19 September to 4 October 2026. The event marks the Kingdom's 12th appearance at the continental multi-sport games.
The Saudi delegation will compete in a wide range of disciplines, including athletics, 5x5 basketball, boxing, equestrian, esports, fencing, football, jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, mixed martial arts, padel, shooting, squash, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, weightlifting, and wrestling.
The delegation is organized and supervised by the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the official body that represents the Kingdom in continental and Olympic multi-sport competitions.
As part of its preparations, the Saudi teams are scheduled to hold a central pre-Games training camp in Fuji, Japan, running from 29 August to 3 October 2026. The camp covers most of the preparation window immediately before and during the Games, giving athletes a base to fine-tune their form on Japanese soil.
Why it matters
The scale of the delegation reflects the continued growth of organized sport across the Kingdom and the expanding number of disciplines Saudi athletes now compete in at the highest continental level. For residents and expats following the national teams, the 2026 Games offer a broad slate of events to follow, from traditional Olympic sports to newer additions such as esports and padel.
