Saudi Arabia’s athletics, road and track cycling, and boccia teams have arrived in Japan to begin their final preparations ahead of the 2026 Asian Para Games. The event is scheduled to take place in Aichi-Nagoya from October 18 to 24, 2026.
The three squads are part of a wider Saudi delegation of 41 male and female athletes who will compete across eight sports at the Games. Alongside athletics, cycling and boccia, the Kingdom is set to be represented in badminton, powerlifting, swimming, table tennis, and taekwondo.
Arriving early allows athletes to adapt to the local conditions and fine-tune their readiness before competition begins. The staggered arrival of teams is a common step in major multi-sport events, giving coaches time to settle squads into training routines.
Why it matters
The Asian Para Games is one of the region’s largest multi-sport competitions for athletes with disabilities, bringing together nations from across Asia. For the Saudi community, the participation reflects continued investment in para sport and the growing presence of Saudi athletes on the international stage.
With a balanced lineup of male and female competitors and representation in eight disciplines, the delegation underlines the Kingdom’s commitment to developing inclusive sport. Saudi Living will follow the teams’ journey as the countdown to the Games continues.
