Princess Reema Joins Women's Sports Network AWSN

Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States, has joined the All Women's Sports Network (AWSN) as an adviser in October 2026, marking a notable step for the growth of women's sports in the region.

In her advisory capacity, Princess Reema will support the network's efforts to broaden its coverage of women's sports across the Middle East and internationally, helping shape how women athletes and competitions reach wider audiences.

The network has outlined plans to stage its first Middle East sports festival during the first quarter of 2027. Saudi Arabia is among the locations being considered to host future editions of the festival, reflecting the Kingdom's expanding role in international sport.

Why it matters

The appointment aligns with the broader momentum behind women's sports in Saudi Arabia, where participation, events and professional opportunities have grown steadily in recent years. For residents and fans across Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the plans signal more visibility for women's competitions and the potential for major sporting events to be held locally.

With a dedicated festival planned for the region and Saudi Arabia on the list of possible host destinations, the coming period could bring new opportunities for athletes, spectators and the wider community to engage with women's sports.
