Saudi Arabia's digital economy has grown to 522 billion SAR, up from less than 300 billion SAR before the launch of رؤية السعودية 2030 — an increase of more than 75% over roughly eight years. The sector's share of the national economy now stands at 16.0% of GDP in 2024, compared with 15.6% in 2023.
The digital economy's contribution to GDP is split across three layers. The core digital economy — the production of ICT goods and services — accounts for 2.7% of GDP. The narrow digital economy, covering establishments that rely on digital inputs, makes up 2.4%, while the broad digital economy of products and services significantly enhanced by digital tools represents the largest share at 10.9%.
The wider ICT market has expanded from about 105 billion SAR before رؤية السعودية 2030 to roughly 190 billion SAR in 2025. As of 2025, the ICT sector's value is reported at nearly 48 billion USD, contributing more than 4% of GDP. The Saudi e-commerce market reached around 6.1 billion USD in 2024, about 6.4% of a 95 billion USD retail market.
The growth carries a clear community benefit: the digital sector workforce has climbed to about 410,000 jobs, up from around 150,000. Officials note the Kingdom's digital economy is expanding at between double and twice the rate of G20 countries, and the ecosystem now includes nine Saudi technology companies valued at a billion riyals or more.
Recent framing positions Saudi Arabia as a technology exporter with the potential to serve about one billion customers across its main markets — signalling continued opportunities for residents, professionals and entrepreneurs across الرياض, جدة and beyond.
