Saudi Gaming Sector Booms as Young Saudis Build Games

Saudi Arabia's gaming industry is expanding at a rapid pace, emerging as the fastest-growing sub-sector within the Kingdom's entertainment scene and a key priority under Saudi Vision 2030. A growing number of young Saudis are moving beyond playing games to building them, entering game development and studio work as the local ecosystem matures.

The Kingdom is now home to roughly 23.5 million gaming enthusiasts, equal to about 67% of the population. The Saudi gaming market is estimated at around USD 2.39 billion in 2025, with one forecast projecting it could reach about USD 4.96 billion by 2034. A separate industry estimate suggests the sector is on track to hit a milestone of SAR 10 billion in revenue by 2026.

Big targets for 2030

The National Gaming and Esports Strategy sets ambitious goals, aiming for a SAR 50 billion contribution to GDP and roughly 39,000 jobs by 2030. The strategy also targets 250 gaming companies and 30 competitive games developed by Saudi-based firms by the end of the decade.

This push is backed by about USD 38 billion in planned investment channeled through the Public Investment Fund and Savvy Games Group. Publicly reported figures for 2025 show around 15,000 gaming-sector jobs and about 40 domestic game studios already operating, with numbers expected to climb toward the 2030 goals.

For residents and expats across Riyadh, Jeddah and beyond, the expansion signals wider career opportunities in development, esports, design and related fields. As studios grow and investment flows in, gaming is fast becoming one of the most dynamic areas of Saudi Arabia's evolving entertainment economy.
