Saudia Cargo has launched a new scheduled freighter route linking Riyadh with Melbourne, opening a direct airfreight corridor between Saudi Arabia and Australia. The service began operating on 25 July 2026.
The route connects King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (RUH) with Melbourne/Avalon, operated with Boeing 747-400F wide-body freighter aircraft. It has been described as a direct scheduled airfreight link and forms part of Saudia Cargo's expanded Australia network.
The addition of a dedicated freighter service is expected to strengthen trade flows between the two markets, giving Saudi businesses and importers a more reliable channel for moving goods to and from Australia. Direct freighter capacity can help shorten transit times and support sectors that depend on timely air cargo, from perishables to high-value shipments.
For the Riyadh community and the wider Kingdom, the new link reflects the growing role of King Khalid International Airport as a hub for international cargo movement. It also adds to the range of long-haul freight options available to exporters and logistics companies operating in Saudi Arabia.
No official fee or rate schedule for the route was made available. Saudi Living will share further details on frequency and capacity as they are confirmed.
