A new direct air link between the Saudi capital and Spain is set to begin, giving travelers a nonstop option between Riyadh and Madrid. The carrier Riyadh Air launched direct commercial flights on the route starting 17 July 2026, connecting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh (RUH) with Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD).
The service, flight number RX531, currently operates four times weekly aboard the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. the flight departs Riyadh at 02:00 and arrives in Madrid at 07:55, with a journey time of roughly 6 hours and 55 minutes.
Tickets are available through the official Riyadh Air website and travel agencies. There is no fixed fare in Saudi Riyal, as prices vary by travel date, cabin class, availability, taxes, and any optional services. A publicly reported example showed round-trip business-class fares from about SAR 27,000, though this is not a standard or guaranteed price.
For residents and expats in Saudi Arabia, the new route adds a convenient direct connection to one of Europe's major cities, cutting out the need for connecting flights. Booking the flight does not require any government service or procedure. Travelers should note, however, that entry requirements for Spain — including visa rules — depend on nationality and travel-document status, so passengers are advised to confirm their own requirements before booking.
