A new mosque will be built in northern Riyadh and named King Abdulaziz Mosque, following a royal directive issued by King Salman on 23 September 2026, based on a proposal by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohammed bin Salman.
An 88,000-square-metre plot along King Abdulaziz Road has been allocated for the project. The mosque is intended to commemorate King Abdulaziz's role in unifying Saudi Arabia and his historic contribution to building mosques across the country.
What the project will include
the mosque will feature a range of community facilities, including a library, a Quran memorization school, a mortuary-washing facility, and open courtyards, alongside other amenities designed to serve worshippers and the surrounding community.
The choice of location on one of the capital's main roads is expected to make the mosque an accessible landmark for residents of northern Riyadh, an area that continues to grow rapidly.
For residents and visitors, the mosque adds to Riyadh's expanding network of religious and community spaces. However, several key details have not yet been announced, including the construction completion date, the opening date, visitor access arrangements, and operating hours. No fees, prices, registration procedures, or official booking channels have been published for this planned mosque.
