Jeddah Begins 1.9km Prince Majid Road Expansion

Construction began in Jeddah on October 18, 2026, on an approximately 1.9-kilometer section of Prince Majid Road, as part of efforts to improve mobility and upgrade the surrounding urban area.

The section under development runs from the intersection with Old Makkah Road to the intersection with Al-Falah Road. Once complete, the road is planned to be 52 meters wide, with four traffic lanes in each direction for a total of eight lanes.

Beyond widening the carriageway, the project includes rehabilitation and reorganization of the surrounding area, improvements to local infrastructure, and upgrades to the urban frontages along the route.

Why it matters

Prince Majid Road is a key artery in Jeddah, and the expanded capacity is expected to ease congestion and improve daily commutes for residents and businesses in the surrounding neighborhoods. The accompanying infrastructure and frontage works aim to enhance the overall look and function of the area.

No project cost or completion date has been announced, and details on any traffic diversions during construction were not provided. Saudi Living will share further updates as they become available.
