58 Recall Campaigns Cover 222,410 Vehicles in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia has launched 58 product-recall campaigns through September 2026, covering 222,410 vehicles and 8,508 other products across the Kingdom, in a move aimed at protecting consumers from defective goods.

Vehicle owners can find out whether their car is included in any active recall by using the Ministry's defective-product recall platform and entering the vehicle's chassis number. The check is straightforward and allows owners to act quickly if a fault has been identified.

Importantly, all recall repairs or replacement of defective parts are carried out free of charge, regardless of whether the vehicle is still under warranty. This applies to every affected owner covered by the campaign.

What manufacturers must do

Under the rules, the vehicle manufacturer or its local agent must notify the Ministry within 10 days of launching a recall, announce the campaign across the Kingdom, and contact the customers affected. If an owner lives more than 80 km from the nearest approved workshop, the local agent is required to cover the cost of transporting the vehicle or dispatching a technician.

The reported figures do not mention any fees, paid application charges, validity periods, or new 2026 changes for consumers. For food, drug, medical, or other regulated products, recall procedures may fall under the Saudi Food and Drug Authority rather than the Ministry of Commerce.

For residents and expats alike, checking recall status is a simple safety step worth taking. Owners are encouraged to verify their vehicle's chassis number periodically to ensure any identified faults are repaired at no cost.
