Multiple Airlines Suspend Saudi Flights Amid Disruptions

Several international airlines have suspended or cancelled flights connecting Saudi Arabia's three main cities — Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam — leaving many travellers facing changes to their plans. Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport was temporarily closed, while Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport and Dammam's King Fahd International Airport remained open but saw cancellations and delays.

On Riyadh routes, Lufthansa suspended flights through 16 October 2026, Air France–KLM suspended its services through the end of October, and Qatar Airways temporarily suspended its Riyadh operations. flydubai also extended its Riyadh cancellations through 14 October 2026.

For Jeddah, Etihad cancelled selected Abu Dhabi–Jeddah flights through 13 October 2026, with further airline cancellations reported. In Dammam, Etihad cancelled selected Abu Dhabi–Dammam flights through the same date, while Qatar Airways temporarily suspended its Dammam flights.

Across multiple Saudi destinations, Etihad cancelled selected Abu Dhabi services to Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, and Emirates cancelled selected Dubai services.

What it means for travellers

Passengers booked on affected routes are advised to confirm their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport, as schedules remain subject to change. Travellers connecting through Abu Dhabi, Dubai or other hubs should check whether their itinerary is impacted. No Saudi-specific fees or government administrative procedures apply to these airline suspensions; rebooking and refund options depend on each carrier's own policies.
