Saudi Government Issues SAR 9.518 Billion Sukuk

The National Debt Management Center has closed the August 2026 issuance under the Saudi Arabian Government SAR-denominated sukuk program, with a total allocation of SAR 9.518 billion. The issuance is part of the ongoing domestic riyal sukuk program placed with investors through the local debt market.

The offering was structured across five tranches. The first tranche was set at SAR 1.55 billion maturing in 2031, followed by a second tranche of about SAR 2.396 billion maturing in 2033. A third tranche of SAR 258 million matures in 2036, while a fourth tranche of about SAR 4.064 billion matures in 2039. The fifth and final tranche stood at about SAR 1.25 billion maturing in 2041. All figures are rounded in the official statement.

The sukuk are government-issued debt instruments denominated in Saudi riyals. Access is typically through financial institutions and investment channels, rather than public e-government platforms such as أبشر, مقيم, قوى, ناجز, نفاذ or توكلنا.

What it means for residents

For individual savers, the retail "Sah" savings sukuk for August 2026 offer a fixed annual return of 4.70%, with a one-year maturity and the return payable at maturity. The subscription window for that product runs over a two-day period between 10:00 and 15:00 Saudi time.

The move follows a broader 2026 effort to manage domestic debt, including the early redemption of outstanding sukuk maturing between 2026 and 2030 worth about SAR 17.1 billion, and the issuance of roughly SAR 17.2 billion in new sukuk across five tranches maturing in 2031, 2033, 2036, 2039 and 2041 — extending the government's debt maturity profile.
