Saudi Arabia's annual consumer price inflation held steady at 1.8% in August 2026, unchanged from July and marking the fourth consecutive month at that level, in a sign of continued price stability across the Kingdom.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up just 0.1% compared with the previous month, reflecting a broadly calm pricing environment for households in Riyadh, Jeddah and other cities.
The main upward pressure came from housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which rose 3.9% year on year and remained the biggest contributor to the overall figure. Food and beverages increased 1.4%, while transport costs were up 2.0% over the same period.
Why it matters
For residents and expats managing monthly budgets, a stable inflation rate means everyday costs are rising more slowly, easing pressure on rent, groceries and commuting expenses. Housing remains the category to watch, as it continues to weigh most heavily on the annual measure.
Meanwhile, wholesale prices, which track goods at earlier stages of the supply chain, rose 4.6% year on year in August but slipped 0.2% compared with the previous month. The monthly dip in wholesale prices suggests limited near-term pressure on the consumer prices that shoppers face at checkout.
