Saudi Inflation Steady at 1.8% in June 2026

Consumer prices in Saudi Arabia rose 1.8% year-on-year in June 2026, with housing and food costs remaining the main drivers of the country's moderate inflation. The Consumer Price Index reached 105.4 points during the month, up from 103.6 points a year earlier.

Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels — the largest component at 26% of the CPI basket — climbed 3.5% over the year, led by a 4.4% rise in actual housing rents. Food and beverages, which make up 19% of the basket, increased 1.4%, while transport, weighted at 13%, rose 1.7%.

Other categories saw sharper moves. Personal care, social protection, and other goods and services jumped 3.8%, including a 14.7% rise in jewelry and watches. Recreation, sport, and culture rose 2.5%, with holiday packages up 4.2%. On the other side, furnishings and household equipment slipped 0.6%, and clothing and footwear edged down 0.4%.

On a monthly basis, headline prices increased 0.2% from May to June. Food and beverages rose 0.7% and transport 0.4%, while personal care and other goods fell 1.0%. Restaurants and accommodation services, as well as information and communication, each dipped 0.1%.

The figures are compiled using an updated methodology with wider regional coverage, revealing notable differences across the Kingdom — inflation ran near 3.7% in Al Jouf and around 1% in Jazan in recent data. For residents in Riyadh and Jeddah, rising rents remain the key pressure on household budgets, even as clothing and furnishing prices ease.
