Saudi Arabia has recorded major gains in public health, with average life expectancy reaching 79.7 years in 2025, up from 74 years in 2016, Over the same period, deaths linked to chronic, noncommunicable diseases fell by 40%.
The improvements bring the Kingdom close to its strategic goal of raising average life expectancy to 80 years by 2030. The steady rise reflects broad progress across prevention, treatment and the quality of care available to residents.
Quality of care on the rise
The Healthcare Services Quality Index reached 70.4% in 2025, comfortably surpassing the annual target of 60%. The result points to stronger service delivery and better outcomes across the health system.
For families and residents across the Kingdom, including in Riyadh and Jeddah, the figures signal a healthier population and a greater focus on managing conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and other chronic illnesses that affect daily life.
The 40% reduction in chronic disease mortality is especially significant, as noncommunicable diseases remain among the leading causes of death worldwide. Continued gains in life expectancy and care quality suggest the Kingdom is on track to meet, and potentially exceed, its 2030 health ambitions.
