Saudi Non-Oil PMI Hits Four-Month High in June 2026

Saudi Arabia's non-oil private sector recorded stronger momentum in June 2026, as the Purchasing Managers' Index climbed to 53.3, its highest level in four months, up from 52.8 in May. The reading, published in early July 2026, marked the third consecutive month of expansion for the Kingdom's non-oil economy.

Any PMI figure above 50 signals expansion in business output, while a reading below 50 points to contraction. June's result was driven by stronger domestic demand and a rise in new orders, which posted their strongest increase in four months.

Businesses reported solid output growth and a pickup in activity at the end of the second quarter. Firms pointed to a rebound in domestic customer spending, approvals for new projects, and the resumption of previously delayed sales activity as key factors behind the improvement.

Why it matters

Survey evidence also showed improved business confidence, with companies expecting continued growth heading into the second half of 2026. A rising PMI often signals more hiring, new projects, and greater business activity — trends that can shape job opportunities and services for residents and expats across the Kingdom.

The PMI is a survey-based economic indicator released monthly. It reflects conditions reported directly by companies operating in Saudi Arabia's non-oil sectors, offering a timely snapshot of how the wider economy is performing.
