Saudi Bank Credit Up 7.3%, Deposits Hit $835bn

Bank credit in Saudi Arabia continued to expand in mid-2026, rising about 7.3% year-on-year in June to roughly SAR 3.42 trillion (around USD 912 billion), Total bank deposits grew even faster, reaching about SAR 3.13 trillion, equivalent to nearly USD 835 billion.

Deposit growth reached 8.9% year-on-year, outpacing the rise in credit and pointing to ample liquidity available for lending across the banking system. Broad money supply (M3) also climbed about 8.4% year-on-year over the same period, reinforcing the picture of steady financial expansion.

Both credit and deposits are now at record-high levels. Earlier in 2026, total credit stood at roughly SAR 3.36–3.38 trillion with annual growth near 8%, while deposits ranged between about SAR 3.05 trillion and SAR 3.10 trillion. By the end of 2025, credit had grown at a double-digit annual pace of around 11–11.5%, which means the 7.3% figure in June 2026 marks a moderation—though the expansion remains solid.

Why it matters

For residents and businesses, healthy deposit growth and rising liquidity generally support the availability of financing, from personal and home loans to funding for small and medium enterprises. The trend suggests banks continue to hold room to lend while deposits build up.

These aggregate figures are compiled as part of routine monetary and economic reporting on the banking sector. They do not involve any user-facing fees or platform steps for individuals; they simply reflect the overall scale of credit and savings in the Kingdom's financial system.
