Saudi Pro League Revenue Jumps 115% by 2026

Sports and investment specialists have pointed to the growing economic weight of the Saudi Pro League, as new figures show league revenues climbing 115% over the three years leading up to 2026. Of that revenue, 82% was distributed to the participating clubs, which now number 18 teams in the 2026–27 season.

The wider Saudi sports sector is valued at roughly SAR 32 billion and is forecast to reach between SAR 84 billion and SAR 85 billion by 2030. The sector currently contributes an estimated 1.5% of the Kingdom's GDP and supports around 39,000 jobs.

The league has set a revenue target of SAR 1.8 billion by 2030, up from around SAR 450 million, and aims for a market value above SAR 8 billion, compared with roughly SAR 3 billion today. A new 2026 funding model from the Player Acquisition Center of Excellence allocates funds by equal distribution (22%), sporting performance (22%), television viewership (28%), and commercial performance (28%).

Private investment gathers pace

In April 2026, Kingdom Holding agreed to acquire 70% of Al Hilal Club Company for SAR 840 million, implying an equity valuation of SAR 1.2 billion and an enterprise value of about SAR 1.4 billion. Al Hilal Club Company's operating revenue reached SAR 842 million for the financial year ending June 2025, up from SAR 659 million in 2024 and SAR 413 million in 2023.

The Ministry of Sport, the وزارة الاستثمار, and the National Center for Privatization are developing investment pathways under the Sports Clubs Investment and Privatization Project. For residents and fans, the shift signals more professional club management, expanded commercial opportunities, and a sports sector that is becoming a meaningful part of the national economy under رؤية السعودية 2030.
