A Saudi scholarship student, Rakan Alnasser, has established a partnership between the Drs. Paces initiative and Loughborough Basketball in the United Kingdom, opening a new pathway for Saudi student-athletes to develop their skills abroad.
Under the agreement, Saudi student-athletes will be able to join Loughborough Basketball's development programme as practice players. The arrangement is designed to combine competitive sport with continued academic study, allowing participants to grow on the court without pausing their education.
Activities under the partnership include intensive training sessions, professional coaching, and international exposure within a competitive university basketball environment. The aim is to give Saudi talent access to the kind of high-level setting that can accelerate athletic development.
A two-way collaboration
The partnership also works in both directions. Loughborough Basketball players will take part in activities organised by Drs. Paces, strengthening ties between the two sides. In addition, Drs. Paces will receive branding exposure through Loughborough Basketball's post-game scorecards.
For the Saudi community, the initiative reflects a growing interest in building international pathways for young athletes. By linking local talent-development efforts with an established overseas programme, the partnership offers aspiring players a structured route to combine sport and study at a competitive level.
