The Saudi Standards Team secured the Platinum Award, the top prize, at the 21st International Standards Olympiad held in South Korea in August 2026. The achievement marked the first time Saudi Arabia has claimed the competition's highest honor.
The Platinum Award is the Olympiad's most prestigious recognition and is presented to only one team out of all participants. Alongside this top prize, the Saudi team also collected one silver and one bronze award at the same event.
The competition ran from 12 to 14 August 2026 and brought together 105 students representing 11 countries. Saudi participation was organized through Mawhiba, the Ministry of Education, and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization.
Why it matters
The result places young Saudi talent at the top of an international academic stage focused on standards and quality. For families and students across the Kingdom, it highlights the growing opportunities available to gifted learners and the support they receive to compete globally.
Sweeping the top honor along with silver and bronze reflects the depth of preparation and the collaboration between national education and quality bodies, reinforcing efforts to nurture innovation and excellence among the next generation.
