Saudi Tourism Spending Hits SAR 300bn in 2025

Saudi Arabia's tourism sector recorded total spending of about SAR 300 billion (roughly $81 billion) in 2025, a year-on-year increase of around 6%, as the Kingdom accelerates toward one of its most ambitious growth targets under Vision 2030.

The Kingdom welcomed an estimated 122 to 123 million domestic and inbound tourists during the year, with total tourism spending reaching roughly SAR 303 to 304 billion — about 6 to 7% higher than 2024. The figures continue a steady upward trend that has seen tourism revenue climb from around $28 billion in 2019 to about $81 billion in 2025, nearly tripling in six years.

Officials have revised the national tourism goal to 150 million annual visitors by 2030, made up of roughly 70 million international arrivals and 80 million domestic tourists. The updated target reflects growing confidence in the pace of visitor growth across the country.

Why it matters

The numbers highlight tourism's rising role in the wider economy. In 2024, the sector contributed about 4.9% directly to Saudi GDP, with direct gross value added of around SAR 218 to 219 billion. That year the Kingdom received about 115 to 116 million domestic and inbound tourists, with total spending near SAR 283 to 284 billion — including inbound spending of about SAR 168.5 billion and domestic spending of roughly SAR 115 to 116 billion.

International arrivals in 2024 stood at around 29 to 30 million, while inbound tourism revenue rose about 19% compared with 2023. For residents and expats, the continued expansion points to more destinations, events, hospitality jobs and travel options in the years ahead as the Kingdom builds toward its 2030 goals.
