Cloud data company Snowflake has announced a $300 million investment plan to expand its operations in Saudi Arabia through 2030, unveiled during LEAP 2026 in Riyadh. The move deepens the company's presence in the Kingdom's fast-growing data and cloud market.
The plan centers on opening a regional headquarters in Riyadh to serve as the company's Middle East base. Snowflake also intends to launch two additional cloud regions inside Saudi Arabia during the second half of 2026, and to train 25,000 people across the Kingdom in data, artificial intelligence, and cloud skills as part of the initiative.
Snowflake already operates locally through a Data Cloud deployment on Google Cloud's Dammam region, offering in-kingdom hosting and data residency options. Its services are generally available on Google Cloud in Saudi Arabia to help organizations meet local data residency and sovereignty requirements.
Why it matters
For residents, businesses, and the broader tech community, expanded in-kingdom cloud capacity means more options for keeping data hosted locally while supporting the digital transformation and artificial intelligence goals of Vision 2030. The expansion also reinforces Saudi Arabia's positioning as a regional and global hub for data, cloud computing, and AI.
The company's plans have been linked to collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. As of now, no Saudi-specific pricing in Saudi Riyal, fee schedules, or contract details have been publicly disclosed for Snowflake's locally hosted services.
