إس تي سي announced plans for a zero-carbon 5G-Advanced mobile site in Saudi Arabia in 2026, marking a new step in the company's efforts to decarbonize its network and expand its sustainability program.
The site relies on multi-band 5G radio integration, an approach the company says lowers energy consumption, reduces carbon emissions, and eases the physical infrastructure load carried by each site. By combining multiple frequency bands within a leaner setup, the deployment is designed to deliver advanced connectivity while trimming its environmental footprint.
the carbon-saving impact of the site is expected to equal the effect of more than 34,000 trees over the coming years, offering a tangible measure of the emissions the project aims to avoid.
Why it matters
Telecom networks are among the more energy-intensive parts of modern digital infrastructure, and their power demands grow as data traffic increases. Cutting emissions at the network level supports the Kingdom's wider sustainability goals and helps keep the expansion of high-speed connectivity aligned with cleaner energy targets.
For residents and businesses across the country, the move signals that next-generation mobile services can advance without a matching rise in environmental cost. As 5G-Advanced capabilities roll out, greener site designs like this one may become a template for future network upgrades.
