Teachers Return to Schools in 11 Regions Aug 16

Teachers in 11 education regions and Al-Ahsa are set to return to their schools on Sunday, 16 August 2026 (3 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1448 AH) to prepare for the 1448 school year,

In these regions, the return follows a staged pattern: administrative staff and educational supervisors return first on Tuesday, 11 August 2026 (28 Safar 1448 AH), practising teachers follow on Sunday, 16 August 2026, and students begin classes on Sunday, 23 August 2026 (10 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1448 AH).

The schedule differs in four cities. In Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, only educational supervisors and administrative staff return on Sunday, 16 August 2026. Teachers in these four cities return one week later, on Sunday, 23 August 2026, while students there start classes on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

Who this applies to

The return dates apply to all practising teachers regardless of nationality, including those in public schools and most private schools that follow the national calendar. Attendance and resumption of duties are handled internally by school administrations and regional education directorates based on the Ministry calendar, so no additional government platform is required for teachers' physical return.

There are no official fees for returning to work; it is a standard employment obligation under teachers' contracts and civil service or education employment regulations. The 2026–1448 calendar continues the multi-phase return approach — administration, then teachers, then students — and preserves multiple in-year breaks, with six holidays across the school year, as part of the current education reform framework. The Ministry's published academic calendar remains the binding reference for all public and private schools.
