14,542 Violators Arrested in Saudi Arabia in One Week

Security authorities in Saudi Arabia announced the arrest of 14,542 people for violations of the Residency, Labor, and Border Security laws in a single week, from 6 to 12 August 2026, during joint inspection campaigns carried out nationwide.

arrests included 7,216 residency law violators, 3,843 border security law violators, and 3,483 labor law violators. A total of 1,457 people were caught attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, of whom about 67% were Ethiopian nationals, 32% Yemeni nationals, and 1% of other nationalities. Another 19 individuals were arrested while trying to leave the country illegally.

Authorities also detained 22 people accused of transporting, sheltering, or employing violators of residency, labor, or border security regulations. Officials noted that penalties for facilitating illegal entry, transporting, or sheltering violators can reach up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR 1,000,000, along with possible confiscation of vehicles and property used in the offense.

Why it matters

These operations are part of ongoing joint field campaigns led by the Ministry of Interior with other government bodies to monitor and apprehend violators, with similar weekly figures reported throughout 2026. For residents and expats, staying compliant with Iqama and labor regulations remains essential to avoid legal consequences.

The public can report violations related to residency, labor, or border security by calling 911 in the Makkah and Riyadh regions, or 999 or 996 in other regions of the Kingdom.
