Abdulmohsen bin Mohammed bin Hamoud Al-Mazyad has been appointed Deputy (Vice) Minister of Tourism at the excellent rank, under a Royal Order issued on 12 February 2026 (24 Sha'ban 1447). The appointment takes effect in February 2026, with the role based at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters in Riyadh.
The move places Al-Mazyad as the number-two official at the ministry, which continues to be headed by Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb. The appointment forms part of a wider 2026 government reshuffle that also saw Princess Haifa bint Mohammed Al Saud move from Vice Minister of Tourism to an advisory role with ministerial rank.
Before his elevation, Al-Mazyad served as Deputy Minister for Licensing and Classification at the Ministry of Tourism. In that capacity he oversaw the licensing and classification of tourism facilities across the Kingdom, including hotels, resorts, tour operators, and other tourism services.
His earlier work included leading field inspections of hospitality facilities in Makkah ahead of the Hajj season, checking compliance with the tourism law, its executive regulations, and the requirement for valid operational licenses issued by the ministry.
For residents and expats, the tourism sector continues to expand as a key pillar of the Kingdom's economic diversification. A stronger leadership team at the Ministry of Tourism supports ongoing efforts to raise service standards across hotels, resorts, and travel operators — areas that directly affect the experience of visitors and residents alike.
