The National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment carried out 5,161 inspection tours across Saudi Arabia during August 2026, part of ongoing nationwide efforts to detect and deter illegal business practices.
The campaigns uncovered 239 suspected cases of commercial concealment. Violators were referred to the competent authorities for investigation and the application of deterrent penalties.
Under the anti-concealment law, penalties can reach imprisonment of up to five years and fines of up to SAR 5,000,000. The law also allows the seizure and forfeiture of illicit funds after final court rulings are issued.
Additional sanctions may include business closure, liquidation, cancellation of commercial registration, revocation of licenses, a ban on commercial activity, and the retroactive collection of zakat, fees, and taxes. For non-Saudis, penalties can include deportation and a ban on returning to work in the Kingdom.
Why it matters
Enforcement activity has remained steady, with 5,270 inspections recorded in July 2026. For residents and business owners, the message is clear: commercial concealment carries serious legal and financial consequences. Ensuring that businesses are operated by their rightful, properly licensed owners protects the market and supports fair competition across the Kingdom.
