Saudi Aramco has said that operations affected by recent disruptions could be restored within days, while the company outlined plans to strengthen the resilience of its crude-export network.
Nasser said the company is studying a fourth and fifth crude-export route to add to its existing options. Aramco currently ships crude through the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea, and the SUMED pipeline that runs through Egypt. Adding new routes would give the company more flexibility in moving oil to global markets.
The company is also considering expanding its crude-storage capacity overseas, including in Japan, as part of efforts to improve supply reliability and ensure customers continue to receive shipments smoothly even during periods of disruption.
Why it matters
Aramco's export operations are a cornerstone of the Saudi economy, and the reliability of oil supply directly supports government revenues that fund national projects and services across the Kingdom. Measures that reduce risk and keep exports flowing help maintain economic stability that benefits residents and businesses alike.
Aramco noted that these plans are still under study. No final project costs, storage capacities, specific locations, or implementation timelines have been announced. The company said further details would follow as the studies progress.
