Aramco Studies New Oil-Export Routes, Storage

Saudi Aramco has confirmed that it is studying the addition of a fourth and fifth crude-export route to strengthen the reliability of its oil deliveries to global markets, alongside plans to expand its overseas storage capacity. The move comes as engineering and feasibility studies are underway.

The company currently exports crude through three main corridors linked to the Arabian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean. The two additional routes now under review would broaden this network, though locations, capacities, costs, and construction or completion dates have not yet been announced.

On the storage side, Aramco is considering additional crude-storage capacity abroad, including in Japan. The company already operates overseas storage facilities in Japan and South Korea, which help place supplies closer to major buyers in Asia.

In a related infrastructure step, Aramco raised the maximum capacity of its East–West Pipeline to 7 million barrels The pipeline carries crude across the Kingdom, adding flexibility in how oil reaches export terminals.

Why it matters

For residents and the wider business community, plans to diversify export routes and expand storage point to continued long-term investment in the Kingdom's energy sector, a core pillar of the national economy. Greater delivery flexibility supports stable supply to international customers and reinforces the country's position as a leading energy exporter.

This is a corporate infrastructure plan and does not involve any fees, prices, application steps, or government-service channels for the public.
