The venture-capital arm of Saudi Arabia's national oil company co-led a $20 million seed funding round for artificial intelligence startup Twin1 AI in August 2026, backing an early-stage company as it emerges publicly for the first time.
Aramco Ventures co-led the round alongside two other investment firms, Bessemer Venture Partners and Tribeca Venture Partners. The financing marks Twin1 AI's move out of stealth mode, the period during which a startup develops its product quietly before a public launch.
Twin1 AI said it will use the new capital to support its formal launch, grow its team, and expand its go-to-market efforts as it begins offering its services more widely.
Why it matters
The investment reflects the growing appetite of Saudi-linked capital for high-technology ventures, particularly in artificial intelligence, a sector viewed as central to the Kingdom's long-term economic diversification goals. For the local business and tech community, deals like this signal that Saudi investment arms are actively participating in global early-stage funding rounds.
Seed funding is typically the first significant round of outside investment a startup raises, used to build a team and bring a product to market. A $20 million seed round is considered substantial and often points to strong investor confidence in a company's technology and growth potential.
No Saudi government fee, permit, visa, or portal-based process is connected to this funding announcement.
