Saudi fintech company Abwab.ai has raised SAR 15 million in a seed funding round to expand its artificial-intelligence-powered lending infrastructure for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Kingdom. The round was led by Speedinvest — marking its first investment in Saudi Arabia — with participation from Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP).
Rather than lending directly to businesses, Abwab.ai supplies technology to banks and finance companies. Its platform provides AI-based credit intelligence and underwriting automation that helps financial institutions evaluate, underwrite, and manage SME financing. The company says its approach makes lending faster and more scalable while delivering explainable credit decisions to lenders.
its technology has already been used to process more than SAR 10 billion in SME loans on behalf of over 10 financial institutions across Saudi Arabia. The new funding will be used to further develop and scale that infrastructure, keeping Abwab.ai positioned in the technology layer of the market rather than as a direct lender.
Why it matters
SMEs are a central pillar of economic diversification in the Kingdom, and access to timely working-capital financing remains a common challenge for smaller businesses. The investment reflects a broader push to expand SME lending and embedded finance in Saudi Arabia, supported by institutional capital programs and additional fintech funding rounds.
Abwab.ai's platform operates through partnered financial institutions, not through public government portals. Application steps, offer validity periods, fees, and pricing for any SME lending products powered by the technology are set by each partnering bank or finance company, and are not published as standard fee schedules in the currently available information. Business owners interested in these products would apply through their financing provider.
