BinDawood Makes Pharmacy a Core Growth Pillar

BinDawood Holding has identified its pharmacy business as a strategic growth pillar in Saudi Arabia, describing the segment as an integrated healthcare growth platform rather than simply a network of branches.

The company said its pharmacy operations remained resilient during the first half of 2026 despite changes to the Wasfaty program, with growth supported by higher-margin sales outside the program. During the period, the group opened eight new pharmacy branches, and its Zahrat Al Rawdah network expanded to more than 209 pharmacies across the Kingdom.

In its full-year 2025 results, the group said its pharmacy network had reached over 204 locations, including 27 pharmacies embedded within existing stores and 14 new standalone outlets. Looking ahead, the company said it will grow the pharmacy business selectively and in a disciplined way, focusing on productivity, customer experience, loyalty programs, and value-added products and services rather than only increasing the number of branches.

Retail plans for 2026

Beyond pharmacies, BinDawood Holding said its broader retail plan for 2026 includes opening new stores under the Danube and BinDawood brands in key cities and strategic locations across the Kingdom. The company added that its growth strategy also involves vertical integration and disciplined mergers and acquisitions, including the consolidation of acquired food businesses during 2026.

For residents and expats, the expansion points to wider access to pharmacies and grocery outlets, alongside a continued shift toward loyalty programs and added services that could shape everyday shopping and healthcare needs across Riyadh, Jeddah and other cities.
