Several Saudi cities are set to see dusty conditions and active winds, Makkah, Madinah, Dammam, Najran and Jeddah. Weather authorities expect suspended dust, raised dust and gusty surface winds that will lower horizontal visibility in a number of areas.
In Riyadh, suspended dust is forecast alongside active surface winds carrying dust, cutting visibility. Makkah is expected to be partly cloudy with active winds and raised dust, particularly affecting coastal areas and highways. Madinah will also be partly cloudy with dust-raising winds reaching parts of the region and the western coast.
In the Eastern Province, Dammam is forecast to see active winds and raised dust with hot to very hot weather and reduced visibility. Najran is expected to be hit by active, dust-raising winds and blowing dust that limits visibility. Jeddah will be partly cloudy with active winds and dust-stirring conditions, mainly along the western coastal belt.
Understanding the alert colors
Dust and wind warnings are issued using a color-coded system. A yellow alert signals raised dust with visibility around 3–5 km. An orange alert points to more severe dust storms, with visibility dropping to about 1–3 km and stronger winds. A red alert marks the highest-impact conditions and significant hazards. Each alert carries clear start and end times, and is marked active or expired once its period ends.
The forecasts and warnings are published as free public weather information through the meteorology center's official early-warning platform and its "Today's Weather" page, showing region and city conditions, alert colors, expected visibility and affected coastal roads. No fees, applications or government platforms are required to view them. Motorists are advised to allow extra time and drive cautiously on highways and coastal routes during periods of low visibility.
