Jeddah Airports Company has moved the expansion of King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah into its next phase, with six major expansion packages planned across 2026 to 2028. The programme covers terminals, runways, and supporting infrastructure as the airport prepares for higher passenger volumes.
The work is scheduled to roll out in stages. Airfield rehabilitation is targeted for the third quarter of 2026, followed by a five-year construction framework in the fourth quarter of 2026 covering multiple airport facilities and infrastructure works.
In 2027, three packages are planned: the Terminal 3A package in the first quarter, the fuel farm in the second quarter, and Terminal 1 optimisation in the fourth quarter. The Concourse C package is then scheduled for the second quarter of 2028.
Together, the packages include terminal upgrades, runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, fuel systems, baggage systems, utilities, and other supporting infrastructure. The wider expansion programme is planned for completion by 2031.
Why it matters
Jeddah Airports aims to lift KAIA's annual capacity to more than 90 million passengers by 2030. For residents and travellers across Jeddah and the wider region, the phased upgrades point to expanded facilities and additional handling capacity in the coming years. No changes to ticket prices, terminal access, parking, or passenger service fees were identified as part of this expansion.
