Royal orders issued in February 2026 appointed Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Yousef as Attorney General (Public Prosecutor) of Saudi Arabia at the rank of minister, succeeding Saud Al-Mujab. The move came as part of a wider reshuffle of senior judicial and government positions in early 2026, which also included changes in the Board of Grievances and other key bodies.
In his new role, Al-Yousef heads the Public Prosecution (Al-Niyabah Al-‘Ammah) and chairs the Public Prosecution Council, overseeing criminal investigation and prosecution across the country. He previously served as President of the Board of Grievances, the administrative judiciary, and was relieved of that post upon his appointment as Attorney General.
In March 2026, Al-Yousef launched an “Institutional Transformation” program within the Public Prosecution. The initiative focuses on improving the work environment, raising institutional efficiency, enhancing service quality, and advancing digital modernization.
As of mid-2026, he has led efforts to accelerate case handling and improve prosecution services, and has carried out inspection tours of Public Prosecution offices in different regions of the Kingdom.
For residents and businesses, the appointment reflects continued attention to the efficiency of the justice system. It does not, on its own, change any fees, e-service procedures, or validity periods tied to everyday government platforms. We will keep readers updated should any related service changes be announced.
