King Faisal Prize Opens 2028 Nominations Worldwide

Nominations are now scheduled to open for the 50th edition of the King Faisal Prize, set for 2028, with submissions accepted from 1 September 2026 until 31 March 2027 across its scientific and humanitarian fields.

The prize covers five categories, including Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. Detailed criteria and nomination invitations are issued separately for each category.

Nominations are accepted only from universities, research centers, academic and scientific institutions, and Islamic organizations. Individuals and political parties cannot submit nominations, entries are not accepted posthumously, and dissertations are not eligible as nominated works. Each nominated work must be published, benefit humanity, and enrich human knowledge.

How institutions nominate

An institution may nominate more than one candidate, provided each nomination has a separate official letter justifying the choice and outlining the nominee's achievements. Required documents typically include the official nomination letter, a list of nominated works, copies of each work, a detailed CV with a publications list, a general information form, a recent high-resolution color photo, and a letter of commitment to deliver two lectures in the field of specialization if the nominee wins.

For science and similar categories, nominated scholarly work is generally limited to a maximum of ten papers and five books or book chapters, with title-page copies attached for book chapters.

Nominations can be submitted electronically through the prize's official online portal, by email to the official nominations address, or by mail to the prize headquarters at the Al-Khairia Building, King Fahd Road, P.O. Box 22476, Riyadh 11495, Saudi Arabia, using the published telephone and fax numbers.

The milestone 50th edition underscores the Kingdom's role in recognizing global achievement in science and human service, an opportunity for academic and research institutions across the community to put forward outstanding candidates.
