Fawaz Al-Sahli Named Transport Authority President

A Royal Order has appointed engineer Fawaz bin Zanaaf bin Fawaz Al-Sahli as President of the Transport General Authority (الهيئة العامة للنقل) at the excellent rank, reshaping leadership in a sector central to the Kingdom's logistics ambitions. The order, numbered أ/275, was issued on 24 Sha'ban 1447 AH, corresponding to 12 February 2026.

The appointment was published in Umm Al-Qura issue 5144 on 13 February 2026. The Transport General Authority's media center described the move as support for raising the efficiency of land, marine, and rail transport activities and services in line with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

The Transport General Authority regulates land, rail, and maritime transport, and is a central entity in national plans to transform Saudi Arabia into a global logistics hub. Before his appointment, Al-Sahli served as vice-president for the regulatory sector at the Authority and represented Saudi Arabia at international transport forums, including the UITP Global Public Transport Summit.

Prior to the reshuffle, leadership references listed Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih as Vice Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and acting president of the Authority. The change was part of a wider set of royal orders in early 2026 that appointed multiple senior officials across the government.

For residents and businesses, no new fees, electronic service steps, or validity periods for transport permits or licenses have been announced with this appointment. Existing procedures for transport services continue to be delivered through the usual government digital platforms unless and until formally updated by later regulations.
