Kingdom Holding Company has completed the acquisition of a 70% stake in Al Hilal Club Company for SR840 million, becoming the club's principal shareholder as part of Saudi Arabia's football privatization program.
The full SR840 million consideration was paid to the Public Investment Fund, which retains a 30% stake in the club. The transaction values the club at an enterprise value of about SR1.4 billion and an equity valuation of SR1.2 billion for a full 100% ownership.
The deal was completed after the required regulatory approvals, no-objection requirements, and corporate conditions were satisfied. The binding agreement for the 70% stake had been announced in April 2026.
Why it matters
The acquisition is part of a wider Saudi program to privatize and invest in local football clubs, opening the door for private and institutional capital to take a leading role in the game. Supporters may see the change as a step toward stronger financing, professional management, and long-term development for one of the country's most-followed clubs.
For residents and football fans across the Kingdom, the transfer of majority ownership signals continued momentum in the sports sector, which has been a growing focus of national investment and community interest in recent years.
