Mazen Al-Sudairi Named CMA Chairman with Minister Rank

Saudi Arabia has appointed Mazen bin Turki Al-Sudairi as Chairman of the Board of the Capital Market Authority (CMA) with the rank of minister, under a royal order issued in August 2026. He succeeds Mohammed bin Abdullah ElKuwaiz in the role.

The appointment came as part of a wider Cabinet reshuffle that relieved the former chairman of his post and named Al-Sudairi as his successor. The CMA's official media center and social channels confirmed the new title, noting that the Authority and its employees extended formal congratulations on the royal order.

The Capital Market Authority is the government body responsible for regulating and developing the Saudi capital market. Its mandate includes oversight of securities offerings, company listings, and market conduct, alongside investor protection and the continued growth of the financial sector.

Why it matters

For residents and investors following Saudi markets, leadership changes at the CMA are closely watched because the Authority sets the rules that govern trading, listings, and how companies raise capital in the Kingdom. The change places a new figure at the head of one of the country's key financial regulators.

The appointment announcements do not describe any new or changed fees, validity periods, or investor-facing procedures. No new steps through government platforms such as Absher, Muqeem, Qiwa, or Najiz have been linked to this appointment, and no capital-market licensing or investor fee changes have been attributed to it. The CMA's day-to-day regulatory functions continue as before.
