Ministry Launches 39 Free PE Teacher Training Programs

The Ministry of Education has announced 39 training programs designed to strengthen the athletic skills and sports performance of physical education teachers and students in public schools. The programs run during the second and third semesters across 11 regions and governorates.

The initiative targets 1,435 male and female physical education and sports activity supervisors, along with physical and health education teachers, and 325 general education students. Sessions are delivered both in person and remotely.

Course content covers school sports activities, basic skills in lifesaving and water safety, and a range of individual and team sports. The programs are implemented in cooperation with the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the Leadership Development Institute, the Saudi Life Saving Federation, the Saudi Arabian Sports Culture Federation, and the Saudi Table Tennis Federation.

All 39 programs are offered free of charge to targeted teachers and supervisors as part of professional development, with no tuition fees for participants. Registration and nomination are handled through the Ministry's internal systems and platforms.

A separate PE diploma for female teachers

In a related move, the Ministry of Education and King Saud University launched in 2026 a professional qualifying diploma in physical education for female teachers, delivered fully online over two academic semesters and comprising 28 study units. Applications are open from 5 January to 31 January 2026, with final nomination results announced on 5 February 2026.

The first semester runs from 1 March to 11 June 2026 and the second from 30 August to 24 December 2026. Study is remote, with no release from work duties. Enrollment does not guarantee assignment to teach physical education, as teaching placements depend on actual needs in education departments and existing regulations.

The push reflects a broader effort to raise the quality of school sports and build stronger practical capabilities among teachers, benefiting students across the Kingdom.
