Young Saudis are gaining broader access to career pathways through expanded scholarships, vocational training, and structured workplace internships, as the country continues to build homegrown talent and diversify its economy.
The Media Scholarship Program, launched in the third quarter of 2025 under the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program, has allocated 94 seats in media-related fields in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Spain. These include 21 master's, 56 bachelor's, 11 diploma, and 6 vocational training seats. Applications are submitted through the Ministry of Education's "Safeer" platform, with detailed timelines announced via the official accounts of participating media companies.
Nine Saudi and regional media companies are currently taking part in the program, offering practical training placements for scholarship students, including MBC Group, One Group, Al-Dhahour Media Company, Hawadi Company, Al-Jazeera Company, Salham Company, La'ba Company, Jazr Production Company, and Waves Company. The program continues in 2026 as one of the main tracks aimed at developing Saudi media talent.
Vocational and workplace training
The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) offers more than 250 specializations and training programs through technical colleges and institutes, spanning industrial, service, and emerging digital and media-related fields. TVTC has also opened direct admission for evening diploma programs at secondary institutes and technical colleges for the first training semester of 1448 AH, giving working youth flexible routes to gain qualifications.
In the private sector, establishments must provide on-the-job training to Saudi graduates and job seekers, with at least 2% of the workforce receiving structured training annually for periods ranging from two to six months. Since January 1, 2024, companies with 50 or more employees must ensure at least 2% of their full-time headcount are Saudi university or college students in trainee roles under cooperative training contracts. Training data and trainee contracts for these companies must be reported annually through the Qiwa platform.
