Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC) has announced plans to tender 51 existing sewage treatment plants across the Kingdom later this year, with a combined treatment capacity of 888,000 cubic meters
The move is part of NWC's long-term operation and maintenance program for its existing sewage treatment facilities. the tender covers the rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance of the 51 plants.
The program is aimed at strengthening the reliability of the Kingdom's wastewater treatment infrastructure. By outsourcing the long-term operation and upkeep of these plants, the company seeks to ensure consistent treatment performance and continued service across the areas the facilities serve.
Why it matters
Efficient sewage treatment is a core part of the Kingdom's water and environmental sustainability efforts, supporting public health and the wider push toward responsible water management. Well-maintained treatment plants help protect communities and enable treated water to be reused where appropriate.
The tender is directed at qualified companies through supplier pre-qualification and company contact channels, rather than a public service counter. No consumer-facing steps, fees, or application charges are associated with this announcement, and there is no change to any public water service as a result of the tender.
