One Million Saudi Students Get Free AI Tools for a Year

One million students at Saudi universities can now access advanced artificial intelligence tools for free for a full year, under a national initiative launched at LEAP 2026 by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in partnership with Google. The program offers eligible students a complimentary 12‑month subscription to a premium Gemini AI plan, with no fees in SAR for the entire period.

The premium plan is typically valued at around SAR 860 for 12 months for non‑students, but this amount is fully waived for participants in the initiative. To qualify, students must be enrolled at a Saudi university and be aged 18 or above at the time of registration.

What the free plan includes

The package gives students access to advanced Gemini AI models to support research, information analysis, idea development, academic projects and everyday productivity. It also includes the Gemini app and Gemini Pro tools, covering text, code and media generation.

Students additionally gain access to features such as NotebookLM and other “Deep Research”‑style tools designed to assist with study and project work, along with expanded cloud storage as part of the package.

How and when to register

Each subscription is valid for 12 months from the moment it is activated. The registration window for the national initiative for Saudi university students is open through 31 December 2026. An earlier regional student plan that required registration by 3 November 2025 has now been replaced by this dedicated national program.

To sign up, students should visit the dedicated Gemini student registration page for Saudi Arabia and verify their university enrolment status. The initiative aims to widen access to modern AI tools and support digital skills among young people, in line with the Kingdom's broader push toward a knowledge‑based economy.
