Saudi Arabia has rolled out a nationwide artificial-intelligence curriculum across public schools starting from the 2025–2026 academic year, a move set to benefit more than six million students in elementary, intermediate, and secondary education.
The curriculum introduces age-appropriate content at each stage, covering AI awareness, safe and ethical use of technology, programming, and the development of basic AI systems. For older students, a dedicated course titled "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" was created for third-year secondary students.
The initiative was developed jointly by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, the National Curriculum Center, and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). The "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence" course specifically was produced by the Ministry of Education, the National Curriculum Center, and SDAIA.
Why it matters to families
For parents and students across the Kingdom, the new curriculum means core digital skills are now part of everyday learning, without any reported fees in public schools. The goal is to prepare young Saudis for future careers in fast-growing technology fields.
At the university level, computer-science programs already include artificial intelligence and cybersecurity subjects, though program duration and fees vary by institution. Families seeking official details can refer to the Ministry of Education, the National Curriculum Center, SDAIA, and the Study in Saudi platform.
