Saudi Schools Expand Online-Safety Training for Students

A new three-year initiative aims to train around 126,000 people across Saudi Arabia on online safety, targeting 120,000 primary school pupils, 3,750 teachers, and 2,250 caregivers. The program expands an Arabic online-safety curriculum, Abtal Al Internet, across public schools nationwide.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Education and delivered by INJAZ Al-Arab with support from Google.org, the curriculum covers responsible online behavior and digital citizenship. Lessons address recognizing phishing attempts, suspicious links and messages, creating strong passwords, keeping software updated, using parental controls, enabling two-factor authentication, and browsing safely.

Why it matters

With children spending more time online for study and entertainment, equipping students, teachers, and families with practical digital-safety skills helps reduce exposure to scams and harmful content. Training caregivers alongside pupils supports safer habits at home as well as in the classroom.

The rollout coincides with the second edition of the “A Secure Return to School” campaign, launched in August 2026 by the National Cybersecurity Authority and the Ministry of Education. Awareness materials for the campaign are shared through the Aamn cybersecurity-awareness program's social-media channels, giving families a steady stream of practical tips as the school year begins.

For Saudi households in Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, the expanded training offers a structured way to build safer online habits among the youngest internet users while giving parents and educators the tools to guide them.
